Otterton Garden Club

Otterton Autumn Village Show 2019

The sun shone for annual Otterton Village Autumn Show which was held on Saturday 14th September in the Village Hall. The Garden Club was pleased to host 263 exhibits ranging from Cut Blooms, Pot Plants, Floral Decorations, Fruit, Vegetables, Home-made produce, Photography and Children’s classes. This was despite an early return of autumn with many people noting that some of their prospective entries had already ended their productive life for the year.

The show was well attended by members of the Garden Club, Villagers, Visitors and many Residents of the Old Vicarage Retirement Home. Tea and cake was a popular and welcome relief from the sun for many visitors who enjoyed the very colourful displays.

Following her success in the Spring Show the Young Growers Cup was won by Lara aged 5. Lara attends the village school and their school allotment has encouraged interest in vegetable growing.

The overall winner for the most points in the show went to Sharon Young with Rosemary Hatch a close 2nd. The rest of the cups were spread out amongst a variety of winners demonstrating how competitive the competition and friendly rivalry was this year.
